Burnham became prime minister at around 12:20 BST on 20 July 2026. I did not have the exact time, so I am open to hearing from other sources. I tried to use this chart to get an idea of what his premiership would be like.
The first thing we know is that Jupiter forms a partial opposition with Pluto, also trine Neptune and sextile Uranus. Many astrologers call this configuration “Barbault’s basket”, after the French astrologer André Barbault, who mentioned this set of aspects when discussing the Saturn-Neptune conjunction in 2026. He gave a very positive view of its possible influence, calling it a “splendid relaunch of civilisation”.

This does not mean that we are entering a golden era where every day will be like spring and we will never need to worry about life again. I loved my dear colleague Luiza Azancot’s comment in her recent presentation at my school: “It is those resolutions that you would never have expected where they are coming from… “
However, there are more challenges indicated by the angular positions of Saturn, Mercury and the Moon.
Usually, the Moon, Ascendant and Ascendant ruler can all describe how people feel and what they want. Both the Ascendant and the Moon are in Libra, which is associated with justice, law, equal rights and a harmonious society.
Venus, as the ruler of the 1st house in Virgo (in fall), tells us that people feel “failed” or “falling”. This could mean that Virgo is related to daily routines, especially food, clothing, medicine, and everything we need in daily life. Venus in the 11th house tells us that it is related to the performance of parliament and the government’s budge. Venus also rules the 8th house, which echoes or doubles down on Venus’ debility in Virgo. Nevertheless, it also describes possible crises that will have a huge impact on people, which will likely include debt and exchange rates.
Interestingly, the Moon is the M.C. ruler, which also represents Burnham. This could suggest that he will focus on the first house issue of ‘British people’, but which British people? The reason we should be worried is that the Moon is opposite Saturn in the seventh house. People may fear ‘foreigners’ and ‘open enemies’. This could apply to the far-right’s xenophobic ideas, the refugee issue and security issues. This could only benefit those who use fear to gain popularity. The new government must take this seriously.
Saturn rules the 4th and 5th houses, suggesting the land, housing, fishing and agriculture, and children. These areas will present him and the people with huge challenges. What we have learned so far is that he promised to build more council houses and end rough sleeping on his first day as Prime Minister. The chart suggests that this will be a huge task for his government.
As Saturn is the Moon’s exaltation ruler and will eventually put a lot of pressure on them. Another question we should ask is who Burnham’s exaltation ruler is? Who represents that Saturn in the 7th house without dignity?
Today’s Moon is at 16° Libra, near the Ascendant, forming a square with Mercury and the M.C. You might think Mercury is still retrograde today, but as it is already at 16° Cancer, it can be considered a “station direct” in traditional astrology, a positive sign like a sick person getting better. It rules the 9th and 12th houses, suggesting that the challenges may be related to young people, students, transport systems, international trade, shipping-related issues, higher education, law, charity, hospitals (NHS), institutions, and minority groups such as refugees and those who have been long abandoned or ignored by our society, as well as the prison system. As Mercury is stationary in conjunction with the M.C. and squares the Moon, these issues will definitely become Burnham’s main focus. Together with the Sun squaring Chiron, we have already heard that one of his policies is to “end rough sleeping” in England. I am looking forward to seeing this great idea become a reality, and to Mercury stationing direct and getting better.
Nevertheless, Mercury and the M.C. also align with the bright star Canopus in the Carina constellation, the second-brightest star in the night sky. According to Vivian Robson, this star is named after the chief pilot of Menelaos’ fleet during the Trojan War. It is said to bestow piety, conservatism, wide-ranging knowledge, voyages, educational work and the ability to transform evil into good. And let us not forget the word ‘pilot’, meaning a leader who guides people through uncharted waters.
Mars in Gemini in the 9th house forms a trine with the Moon, suggesting constructive criticism from religious figures, scholars and the media. It can also suggest a huge debate about the law. Although it is a trine, suggesting smooth action, it doesn’t guarantee a great result, as Mars has no major dignity here. Mars rules 2nd and 7th houses sugests he may handle financial challenge and forefinger affairs with a smith way.
When I consider Venus in fall as Moon’s ruler and Saturn in Aries in the 7th house is Moon’s exaltation ruler, as Moon us representing Burnham as Prime Minister, I try not to think too much about conspiracy. However, Mars in Gemini is the ruler of Saturn , and Mars is ruling the 2nd and 7th houses. I can’t help but wonder: is he another one who is controlled by foreign super-riches? Or controlled by the money come form another country ?
Let me focus on his policies. Apart from the Moon in the 1st house opposite Saturn (L7), we already talked about Mercury. Now let us talk about the Sun, the Sum as a leader. The Sun in the 10th house, ruled by the Moon, suggests that people, agriculture, family and living costs will influence him. The Sun doesn’t have many aspects, apart from a semisquare with Venus and a square with Chiron. Venus in Virgo in the 11th house suggests tension and friction between parliament and cabinet members. As Venus rules the 1st and 8th houses, this emphasises what I mentioned at the beginning. As it is a semisquare, this suggests that he will devote much effort to these issues, but achieve little. It may also make him feel powerless. As for Chiron, it reiterates the theme of issues affecting minority groups.
With Jupiter in Leo in the 10th house again, the issues of international trade, shipping, higher education, law, foreign affairs and so on are repeated. As these are part of Barbault’s basket, I hope that the challenges suggested by the opposition of Jupiter and Pluto will push him find solutions. Jupiter rules the 6th and 3rd houses, which cover issues such as transportation, commerce, education, labour, the underprivileged, and the military and police. He needs to adopt a more open attitude and find solutions through changes in the thinking of different age groups and technological innovation, rather than constantly using outdated methods that fail to inspire people and prevent them from voicing their opinions.
The moment he became Premier Minister, the fixed star Albadah in the Sagittarius constellation was on the IC. I have been researching this star for a very long time as it is right on the ecliptic. It represents the head of the archer and has an important influence on politics and civilisation. Perhaps this suggests that a new socio-political culture is slowly emerging.

Finally, I would like to use astromapping techniques to identify potential focus areas. As the Sun, Jupiter and Pluto LS go to North England and Scotland, it would foster positive relationships with these areas. However, Pluto can also present challenges from these areas. South West England, Suffolk and Norfolk have Mars, Uranus and Saturn L.S., as well as the Chiron L.S. The Saturn I.C. line also passes through Kent, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk. We can expect these areas to have their own challenges. Wales has a Venus line, which will bring good relationships but will it be helpful ? Don’t forget Venus fall in Virgo, I can only hope it will not cause big trouble to him.
The Neptune L.S. and Moon L.S. lines passing Brussels suggest a vague positioning feel sorry and nostalgic : a dream that needs the EU’s nourishment, but is unwilling to commit to joining. As the Venus L.S. line passes through similar areas and the Sun M.C. line is near Berlin, and the Jupiter L.S. line passes through Paris and the Venus line passes through Ireland, we can still expect a good relationship with the E.U and we should not ignore that Venus has debility here.

With the Chiron Desc line going to Ukraine and the Mars Uranus L.S line going to Russia near Moscow, it will continue to support Ukraine. If you are expecting him to change his support to Israel, I don’t think he will. Venus’ DSC line passes there. With the Chiron MC line near Washington, the relationship with the US needs to be fixed.
With Venus on the M.C. and the Moon and Neptune on the L.S. lines passing the Persian Gulf, he will adopt a vague and moderate stance towards the oil-producing countries of the Persian Gulf and Iran. The Sun Desc line is near Beijing, the Jupiter Desc line passes North Korea and the Pluto Asc line passes South Korea and Taiwan. The Uranus IC line passes Japan, suggesting that his approach to this area may cause fear in South Korea and Taiwan and give Japan a shock.
